Activision Planning Two Modern Warfare 2 DLC Packs

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Planning downloadable content before a game releases has become part of the process, especially for games with an online multiplayer component. ShackNews reports that Activision is planning two map packs for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 — one less than was released for Call of Duty: World at War. CEO Mike Griffith said, plainly, “We plan to launch two separate map packs for this title.” We already knew that two map packs would be timed 360-exclusives, so these would seem to be those promised packs.

Some have noted that the number actually seems surprisingly low for a game with the popularity and staying power of Modern Warfare, but it has precedent. The first game only received one map pack, in stark contrast to three from World at War. On the other hand, these two packs could simply be the ones that Activision is planning for so far. If the game still has an active community months after its release (which it almost certainly will), Infinity Ward could always make more.
