Tim Schafer doesn’t seem to like social networking site Twitter. When I meet him for this story, he’s batting around complaints in his head like a stand-up comedian writing his next bit. He might have legitimate reasons behind them — his independent credibility wanting to avoid the bandwagon now that it’s popular, or his writing background favoring messages longer than 140 characters — but at the moment they seem like little more than opportunities for easy sarcasm. “Twitter,” he scoffs. “That’s so 2008.”
“By the time this [interview runs], Twitter will be long gone. It’s too long. It’s too involved. I’m starting this thing where people can just send two letters to each other.”
